ANNA RUSSELL • ARTIST
000s and Thousands - 2009
This work is about the beauty of structures holding within themselves infinite variety, natural patterns combining unique elements with the reassurance of predictability. These patterns are in the structuring of our bodies and our world at scales both too large and too small to grasp for long. I found natural patterning a rich field of metaphor for human cultures - the promise of bounty, the threat of plague or the sense of consciousness in the ocean of community.
