Walking and Waking - 2013
I joined ReefWalk 2013 from Cairns to Mission Beach to raise awareness on the multiplying threats to the Great Barrier Reef. For a week. The walkers reach their final destination in Gladstone months later.
Are we there yet? That’s what we’d ask each other as we got to the 20k mark each day. But the more pressing questions were how much time is left to protect the reef from dredging and coal shipping and for me, is walking any more effective than making art?
